Great after getting one that works! Jun 13, 2009
By Autumn After seeing this recommended in Baby Talk magazine, I bought it without reading the reviews. I returned the first one bc it didn't work, but, surprise the second didn't work either! I called Customer Service of Little Kids before returning the second bc I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. (though I read all the instructions). I was told to hold the handle down for "up to 5 minutes to prime the tube". Well it worked finally...for about 5 minutes. In addition, the bubbles leaked out of the bottom! I called Little Kids back & a customer service rep. answered right away! The company sent me a new one (within a week). Great service and very kind reps. The "newer" model comes with a blue bottle of bubbles(not the yellow star) and the machine is slightly different. The refill cap screws tighter & therefore prevents leaks. Well this one works GREAT!!! My baby loves the continuous stream of bubbles. It still requires a little priming (about 30 seconds). The whale head pops up and down and little fingers can get stuck in the top (where the bubbles come out) and on the sides, so I would recommend only using this with adult supervision.

I Hate That Whale Mar 27, 2012
By Disappointed Father I am a single father and had the good intentioned notion of purchasing my baby girl her first bubble machine. We live in a small town, so consequently options are limited. I ended up purchasing the bubble machine in question at our local Ross. Bubble Machine #1 didn't turn on at all, despite the BRAND NEW BATTERIES that were in it. I capitalize this, because every company out there thinks that the general public is not intelligent enought to try new batteries before complaining. The bubble disaster then proceeded to leak all over my counter and my floor, while not blowing one bubble at all. I thought this was rather curious, since it is a bubble machine and seems only to blow air. I took this prized toy back to the store, and obtained a second one, just wanting to make sure I could make my little girl happy. Bubble Machine #2 didnt' turn on at all. It did turn on when I turned it upside down, without pulling the handle. I suppose that might be considered normal if it were backwards day, or something like that. After playing "flip the bubble machine" for a while, I noticed this one was leaking too. Like a failing dam, it began as a slow leak and then turned into a real gusher. Needless to say, I took the other one back to that fine establishment and told them I didn't like the color of it. Just kidding, I told them that my daughter had her first lesson in the endless array of toy crap out there. She'll be fine, five minutes after the waterfall she was playing with a cracker on the floor. I found another one that stated "typhoon of colorful bubbles shoots upwards creating a bubble blizzard." I'll give that one a whirl. how

By Rebecca Cohen I bought this for my cat and she loves it. It was a lot cheaper at Toys R Us.

Patience or luck helps w/ this toy Dec 07, 2009
By JC I read all the negative reviews plus a few key positive ones...and still bought this bubble maker. Actually i bought two, one for my niece too.
The key for me was after i put in batteries and the bubble solution, hold down the handle for about 5 minutes straight. I tried 1-2 minutes but nothing happened. I read another review that said 5-10 minutes, which sounds crazy but there must be a really slow lubing up process.
So i kept the handle down and read an article on my computer, then a few minutes later bubbles finally came out! Also, each time you use it, it will need a one pump warm up. Gives bubbles on the 2nd and subsequent pumps.
I expected the worst, so i'm actually happy w/ this. My 2 yr old loves it.

Surprise! It doesn't work. Jun 06, 2009
By M. Thompson Didn't work right out of the box. So much for impulse buys. Next time I'll read the reviews first. LAME. It should be taken off the market.
P.S. The bubble dispenser is terrible too...leaks bubbles all over the place.
