5Melissa and Doug Rule!  Feb 18, 2008 By H. Wolowik "Nortiebug"
We love the Melissa and Doug puzzles, so when my 4 year old daughter received the calendar for X-Mas, we were thrilled. We do "Calendar" every day. We bought this one for another little 4 year old as well. My only suggestion, put the calendar in a place that your child cannot reach it without help. There are ALOT of pieces that you don't want to lose.

4I DO like it, but...  Feb 24, 2009 By Beckett's mom
I definitely think this is a cute toy but I have some issues. I like the different magnetic pieces that indicate different daily events....for example "go to the dentist" or "sunny day". My problem is that you can go to the dentist ON a sunny day. The spaces for each day are a little too small so there's not room to put more than one event. So when my son went to the library and the doctor on the same day and it was raining outside, we could only fit 2 things and even the 2 things didn't fit well. They hung over into other spaces.
The other issue is that the board is made up of 2 separate pieces. A top piece is the calendar and the bottom piece is just like the calendar but with no writing...it's just blank to hold all the extra magnets. I wish it was the other way because the calendar is a little too high up for my child to see it great but if it were down any lower, my younger son would be able to grab the pieces off and get them in his mouth.
The idea is great. The pieces are cute. I just wish these issues had been addressed.

5Are you tired of your preschooler asking "what day is it today"???  May 26, 2007 By et2980
Good product, typical M&D product which is my favorite choice for my children. The magnets are nice and I'm trying to figure out how to get more of the same (for example weekly music lessons). The squares are also pretty small so if two occasions were on the same day (first day of spring and your child's birthday) you would have to be creative. Magnets for parents and siblings should be included rather than obscure holidays.

My 4 year old loves it and is quickly learning the concepts of a calendar. No complaints here...

3small pieces  Feb 21, 2009 By Charmaine W. James
The magnatic pieces are very small. Would be better if larger. Young children can handle larger pieces so much easier and safer. These pieces are way too small. Will probably get lost very easily. Wished I would have made a poster board-laminated or clear contact paper, with dry erase pens-would have been more hands on and imaginative for child.

Other wise concept if very good and educational.

5Great way to teach days/weeks/months/years  Aug 13, 2007 By jennieG
My son is 4.5 years old and is learning his days/weeks/months/years. This is the one item that is really helpful to get this done. He has a lot of fun picking the squares for the events during the week. Overall a very affordable and effective way.
